These are definitely my new favourite snack. I learned about them from Bourdain’s trip to Charleston, SC and managed to pick some up at a gas station in Georgia and the Asheville Farmers Market in North Carolina. I think I like them more than roasted peanuts, they’re still salted, but with more of a bean or chickpea flavour than the peanut flavour we’re used to. I’m going to see if I can start boiling my own back home. The only downside is that they’re a little bit messier than regular dry nuts.

i loooove these! they always remind me of when my dad would take the whole family to the beach in the late afternoon, and we’d pay a dollar for a mini-bag of these and sit by the waves to watch the sun set. π π π
